סגול 59 הוא אחד ממייסדי סצינת ההיפ הופ והראפ בישראל. פרט להיותו ראפר ויוצר מוערך, הוא גם כותב ומלחין, גיטריסט, מבקר מוסיקה, מתרגם, בלוגר וכן מרצה בביה"ס למוסיקה רימון. סגול שיתף פעולה עם מגוון רחב של אמנים מתחומי ההיפ הופ, הרוק, הפולק והג'אז, מופיע רבות בישראל וברחבי העולם (כולל בפרוייקט שירי הגרייטפול דד בעברית עליו הוא חתום). מאז אלבומו הראשון, שיצא בשנת 2000, סגול ממשיך לחדש, להפתיע ולשאוף אל אופקים אמנותיים חדשים עם כל ריליס שיוצא מתחת ידיו.

Israeli musician Sagol 59 (Khen Rotem) is widely recognized as the Godfather of the Israeli hip-hop movement, a revered lyricist and a versatile singer and instrumentalist. Being one of the first Hip Hop MCs on the Israeli hip hop scene and a respected music journalist for various publications, He also performs extensively in Israel as well as in Europe and the U.S. Since 2017 Sagol has been teaching Hip Hop and Rap courses at the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music. Among his ongoing activities in the Hip Hop field, Sagol found time to release the acclaimed Grateful Dead Hebrew tribute album The Promised Land. Sagol followed the album's release with a series of concert tours both in Israel and across the U.S. In 2021, Sagol released "The Father, The Son and The Mayor", the first ever album by an Israeli rapper to be released as a vinyl LP.
